We woke up this morning with the excitement of July 4th in the air. We made the decision at 6:45am to make July 4th a two-day extravaganza. We did the wake up call, had our usual dining hall breakfast party and our annual parade this afternoon – but due to weather concerns AGAIN … we moved our carnival until tomorrow afternoon because for the first time in the last 3 weeks the forecast is for clear skies and hot temps!
That’s one of the many incredible things we can do up here. We moved our spirit day competition up to 9:00 am with Camp Kenwood Evergreen for all our 4 youngest girls groups. This will allow us to hold our annual July 4th fair tomorrow after a great day here at the Realm today. I love how we can change everything at the last minute. The kids only care about one thing – FUN. We always have the answer to “what’s next?”
I remember being a junior camper and marching in the annual July 4th parade. We had horses and a ton of pageantry. Andy would always lead the parade dressed to the nines. He had an old fire truck on camp that as Jugglers we were able to ride in. One of the special things we do at CRH is honor our past. We do many of the same things that children did 96 years ago during our first summer.
The Magic in the Trees only grows stronger here at Camp Robin Hood every year. Our campers’ laughter and joy is the best fertilizer of all time ……
Love,
Woody
