There is no better place to celebrate America’s birthday than at Camp RobinHood! The day started with Chuck driving around Boys Camp in his golf cart waking the boys up. Over in Girls Camp Scribes pranced through the road to the tune of patriotic music and streamers.
All of the groups were early to the flagpole dressed head to toe in red, white, and blue garb. We raised the flag to raucous shouts and celebrations. At the end of breakfast, junior camp had a competition to see who was the most spirited. After a fierce standoff, the Jesters took home the crown, earning first in line for dinner AND the newest RobinHood jibbitz.
During the morning, the quarterfinals of the Challenge Cup commenced. In this competition, groups battle against each other for a trip to pizza and ice cream, a champion shirt and trophy, and the bragging rights for being the 2024 Challenge Cup Champs. After four close contests, the Quills and Shires advanced to the Girls Camp finals, while in Boys Camp the Squires and Foresters will face off later this week. Best of luck to the final four!
After lunch, we had our traditional RobinHood 4th of July! First, we conducted our 4th of July Parade, where each group marched around the Quad covered in red, white, and blue while music blasted. The Saxons and Scribes put on a Quad Carnival for the ages, with a brand new activity, Pie Royale, stealing the show. While the festivities on the Quad were ongoing, other groups partied at the beach, jumped around on the inflatables, and celebrated in the Barn. Our Saxons and Scribes have been truly incredible this year and today was no exception. We are so thankful to have such a great group of young people leading camp this summer! It is to their credit that the afternoon was full of smiling, laughing kids throughout The Realm.
Once the afternoon festivities wrapped, it was time for an all-time favorite meal. Corn Dogs, pretzels, french fries, and watermelon were in high supply. And don’t forget about everybody’s favorite of the favorites, FRIED DOUGH! Woody couldn’t call for seconds quick enough as the dining hall was full of exuberance from the day. After dinner, the Shires, Scribes, Foresters, and Saxons headed to Conway to watch fireworks and listen to live music. At camp we were busy pontooning, swimming, campfires, and other awesome evening activities.
Watching the beautiful sunset at our beautiful waterfront, we are so thankful to live in a place where we can have so many amazing opportunities. After a long day, it might be an early bed time tonight.
Sweet dreams from the Realm on America’s 248th birthday. We hope that 150 years from now, someone is writing the Woodchuck during RobinHood’s 248th consecutive year.
