Woodchuck 7/17

It is a beautiful day in the Realm after a brief thunderstorm last night about 8.30pm. It didnt interfere with our daily activities at all and the fields all got the water they needed.

Talked with Yensi our Chef this morning, Today is the day he starts baking over 2000 cookies for Saturday! Imagine That!! Oatmeal raisin, sugar, double choc chip, all for your enjoyment with your lunch on Saturday.

Every day is a BIG day in the Realm – and this morning at breakfast Woody had a couple of announcements that included a lot of groups;

Tumblers through Quills and Jugglers through Yeomen will be boarding most of our vans and bus to head to the Sanford Maine about an hour from here. They will leave about 3.30pm to take in a Sanford Mainers Baseball game. This is a regular summer event, they are a collage age semi pro team and we make these arrangements through our alumni who works with them. Pete Lieberman will get our campers out on the field and have an autograph signing with the players. Pete was a GL here for many years. They will get snacks and f course popcorn and hotdogs – because what is a baseball game without those!

A mountain trip went right out after breakfast. Girls group for those interested. They will be doing the boulder loop trail, which is a new climb for us – it is a moderate climb with good views.

The rest of us will be doing a regular day in the Realm which will include all activities and of course some water time! Temps in 80’s

By the way it is a bit cooler this weekend for our visiting day and next week is promising days in the 70’s – finally a break from the heat.

I want to tell you a little bit about our optional program -Riding. This program is ran by Diane who lives here at camp year round. Diane has ran our program for many years and has over 30 years at Robin Hood. This year we have 10 horses at the barn; Bruce, Melody, Cinnamon, Tango, Oreo, Nibble, Enya, Archie, Flicka and Arlo. Diane says it is a great group of horses for riding. There are six workers at the barn that tend to their needs. We have a total of 63 riders this summer that love horses. They ride at least three times a week and learn the ropes of the barn including grooming and helping out. They will have one horse show this year where the best riders will get to show off. All in all a great program and while you are here you might want to stop by and say hi to the horses!

This will be about it for the day, although Woody has promised something special tonight for the Scouts &  TP’s that didn’t go to the baseball….
