Greetings from the Realm,
After 25 years at Robin Hood, I still love the place in the rain. Activities are still rolling. Some a
bit different but kids are still moving and enjoying the place.
We had our first Lazy Sunday. Campers can sleep in and come into breakfast later if they want.
Most of our junior campers were still up bright and early, fishing, playing sports and getting
ready for the best breakfast of the week. Lots of choices and a chance for campers and staff to
sit with anyone they want in camp.
Our senior camp waterfront was still running in the rain where the Lancers got a chance this
morning and the TPs in this afternoon – followed by a hot shower. This afternoon the girls
camp ran a fun game of “How well do you know your Group Leader” in the theatre.
Our junior camp played in a big Bingo game with lots of prizes – you may not believe it, but this
game blows away any game at the senior center in Florida! Each group played at least one
game outside, then warmed up with a hot shower and joined one of our indoor activities.
The two most exciting parts of the day was our Sunday sundaes after dinner. Scott was in
charge of picking the lottery which decides what group goes next to the sundae bar!
Our evening culminated with our staff talent show. The night was electric! Our staff is loaded
with talent The first-year aides put on a master class of dance, while the second-year aides
made the room scream with delight. Our Male Leadership sang Country Road, and our Female
Leadership brought the house down with a dance. The Trip staff put on a musical performance
on the piano and the waterfront staff danced up a storm. One counselor sang a song from
Hamilton and the entire camp joined in and erupted following his performance. The Brass
closed the show with some Magic from Rick – which no one still can figure out and some sort of
fake toothbrush dance which was cut off by the health center.
Like all nights at the theatre, we ended arm and arm singing the Good Night Song and Evening
Shades. It’s still raining, but nothing stops Robin Hood!
Sweet Dreams from the Realm.
